What was your first job in the industry?

Working as a part-timer for Glemby. It was in a department store where they had a salon upstairs and a cosmetics counter downstairs. We were trained as makeup artists and had to make sales and makeover goals. I had to really look at my clients and help them discover shades and products that complemented both their features and their lifestyles.  

I can't discuss nails without...

Talking about color trends and what people want from their polish. I love creating new shades and hearing people say "Yes! I can finally wear that color." I really enjoy sneaking onto our Twitter and Facebook pages and chatting with people who love it just as much as me. No judgment, just fun with nail polish.

Two of which, Audrey and Evvie were featured on the runway and a complimentary third shade named Katherine. Stephanie also picked up a few expert nail polish application tips from Isa including this one... Eclectic and always edgy fashion designer to the stars Joanna Mastroianni (known for her Sex and the City 2 movie looks) selected  Zoya Freja to compliment her dramatic glamour fused with rock and roll fashion looks during her fabulous New York Fashion Week runway show. The show was an ode to fashion icon and inspiration Iris Apfel who walked the runway with Mastroianni at the shows close.

Manicurist Cinnamon Bowser applied two coats of Freja (a gunmental metallic gray nail polish) to create a modern dark neutral manicure that complimented all of the models skin tones and the entire Mastroianni collection perfectly.

The Color Experts at Zoya (led by Rebecca Isa) and Fashion Designer Bibhu Mohapatra started working together before the fabric had been cut to create three new custom shades in (pewter), (champagne beige) and (red) to coordinate with Bibhu's vision for Fall/Winter 2012. 

For the show, The models all wore Rekha (the red) on their left hands and either Parveen (the nude) or Zeenat (the pewter) on their right hands. Zoya Rekha was also featured on the toes. 

Bibhu wanted the models to wear red on one hand, as a homage to his mother. When Bibhu was growing up, he remembered his late mother always wearing the most beautiful color of red nail polish on her nails. Because it was customary to eat with your right hand in India, she only wore the red on her left hand. Bibhu recreated the single hand red nail look, using his newly created red Zoya Rehka, on his models for the runway show and alternated between the champagne nude Zoya Parveen and pewter Zoya Zeenat on the models right hands.

Fashion Designer Peter Som created three muse inspired nail polishes with the Zoya custom nail color creative team led by color expert, Rebecca Isa. The end result was a beautiful trio of Limited Edition (LE) Zoya  / Peter Som nail colors featuring a soft, warm pink named Audrey, a smoky evergreen called Evvie and a buildable plum nail gloss answering to Katherine. The nail gloss is unique in that it can be worn sheer as a single coat or built to more intense color with two or three.
